i hate you, apple.

Details:
I've spent at least an hour trying to purchase an email gift certificate for someone's birthday. The Apple store only allows physical gift cards, so I finally found out from LiveChat that I have to go through the itunes application and create an account and I linked it to Paypal and logged in 10 times and set up the same certificate over and over. It wouldn't let me use the $55 in credit I have from purchasing Scrips cards from my son's school (which is completely ridiculous, I paid for them... why not?). So I re-linked Paypal, as it was no longer showing as an option and finally received the message: This Apple ID is not currently eligible to purchase gift certificates. There was no further explanation. I tried using LiveChat for about the fourth time and was told they couldn't help me and sent me to this web form instead. The birthday is today. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Please explain why I cannot purchase a gift certificate. I'm pretty ready to take my business

I had to go ahead and purchase an amazon gift certificate instead, so I don't know if the issue is resolved. For future reference, can you confirm that scrips cards (which I purchased through my son's school) cannot be used to purchase iTunes certificates?

Thank you, but I no longer need to purchase a gift certificate from iTunes as I've already purchased one from Amazon in the meantime.

I'm not sure I understand the response. I am very DISPLEASED with Apple and did NOT use the iTunes store (purchasing from Amazon instead) because of all the issues and how convoluted the Apple/iTunes stores are and will do my best to avoid the iTunes store in the future, except to find some way to use up the $55.00 in credit that I am now really regretting purchasing. Especially since I didn not realize when purchasing those credits that Apple would not allow them to be used to purchase gift certificates.

I'm sorry, but I'm really not understanding what it is you want me to check. I no longer have the need to purchase a gift certificate, so I can't tell you whether or not that is resolved.
