there's a jackass in my frigidaire.

Purchase Date = Est 2005

I believe the stove/oven is approximately 5-6 years old. It was purchased shortly before we moved into our condo in January of 2006.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband was using the digital control panel and the brackets holding it in place all snapped so that the control panel sunk back in to the housing.We continued to use the stove and used the oven once. Yesterday, we had repairmen out to fix our refrigerator and they asked us about the range. They told us the way the connectors inside are arranged, the electric current could potentially arc out and poses an electrocution hazard.

Could you confirm if this is true and if you have received other reports of the brackets breaking and if there has been a recall for this? It seems it shouldn't be difficult to have brackets that don't break under the light pressure of a finger pushing a button and maybe this is a faulty set? Do we have any recourse for this other than paying the $135 estimate given to fix this?

Have I possibly emailed the wrong location? Do you mean that Frigidaire is not intimately familiar with the products it makes and sells and does not know which of it's products have been involved in recalls?

I'm not looking to have you service the appliance. That is already taken care of, no worries.

What I'm trying to establish is if this doesn't seem pretty flimsy that the control panel can snap right off as a result of someone pressing a button. Doesn't that seem rather flimsy? Perhaps Frigidaire cares to know that their product is flimsy and to take responsibility for that? Especially if, from what I've been told by a service person, that it could result in electrocution? Is there nothing Frigidaire cares to comment on about that?

Apparently not. I've already forwarded to CPSC anyhow.

Thank you for your apparent lack of concern for the products you produce and sell. We'll remember it during our next appliance purchase.
