forty weeks and 4 days.

today marks 40 weeks and 4 days.

i’ve just returned from another cervix-wrenching appointment with the OB. i let her know we likely had timeable contractions last night, but we were too retarded to time them before the excitement had ended and we got down to the soy ice cream eating instead.

i informed her once again just how lazy this baby is and, since an induction needed to be scheduled, i was shipped down the hall for a non-stress test. oliver refused to wake up even under the influence of sprite. the only thing that finally brought his heart rate around was a tickle to the belly. but it was too late by then and i was back down the hall for an ultrasound while i sent brian back to work.

the placenta is anterior. the baby is DEFINITELY a boy. he likes to suck his fingers. he has plenty of amniotic fluid. he scored high points for breathing.

we got a gold star.

without natural intervention, which i’m fairly certain my high levels of denial will overpower, we are scheduled for one more non-stress test monday and an induction at 7:00am wednesday morning. we would’ve been scheduled tuesday, but dr culpepper has had several requests to bypass 6/6/06 as a child’s birthday and i, being brought up a christian with OCD tendencies, did not challenge this.
